Symposia

ISEA International Board of Directors in concert with Headquarters Director (HQ) coordinate and oversee the continuation of the International Symposium on Electronic/Emerging Art (ISEA). The first ISEA symposium took place in 1988 and, since then, it has been held either annually or bi-annually. In 2023 “Emerging” was folded into the Symposium’s name to emphasise our open attitude to emerging approaches, practices and practitioners in the crossover between art, science and technology. ISEA is a nomadic event, with each iteration organized in a different city or region of the world. Candidates can apply to organize a future version of the symposia by visiting How to Bid for more information.

ISEA International is an Academic Symposia that includes keynotes, papers, panels & roundtables, workshops, institutional presentations, and art events such as art exhibitions, concerts, performances, screenings, and other public events. The symposia are documented in digital and/or hard copy publications.  Academic presentations are documented in Symposia Proceedings publications that adhere to academic standards, and Artistic presentations are documented in ISEA Catalogues.

For a complete list of previous ISEA symposia visit Past Symposia (1988-2023) and visit Upcoming Symposia for next year’s symposia. The symposia proceedings and other documentation can be found in our online archive (see Archive).
